In a market full of smartphones with similar designs, credit Nubia for trying something new. The Chinese phone maker, partially owned by ZTE, has released a dual-screen handset with a second display on the back.

The Nubia X has nothing but a 6.26-inch screen on the front. The front camera is gone -- but instead of adding a slider camera like Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 3, the Nubia X lets you take selfies with its 5.1-inch back screen and rear camera.

What’s even more interesting is that gamers can assign touchscreen controls to the rear display so you can take your fingers off the front screen to avoid blocking the gameplay. The back screen can also display the clock or photos.

If you find the back screen distracting, it can be turned off, disappearing into the glass chassis.

Inside, the Nubia X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with 6GB/8GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of storage and a 3,800mAh battery.

The Nubia X will go on sale in China on November 5, at a starting price of 3,299 yuan (US$473).
