Tot Mom Six Months On
Casey Anthony Update

January 13th 2012

Since the last updates the Tot Mom Casey Anthony, also called the most hated woman in the USA, disappeared from the media spotlight. She has now reappeared in a video diary leaked on the Internet. Has she changed? Has she shown remorse? Regret?

For someone trying to hide incognito, posting a video diary on YouTube must say something about her state of mind. She changes her appearance frequently, having changed her long brunette locks for a shorter blond style in October, to a redhead in December. In October she wore a pair of scholarly looking black thick-rimmed glasses, but morphed to a more punkish look with piercings, in her nose and on the top of her ear, done on Christmas Eve just in time for the festive season.

Casey Anthony - Video Diary with Her Dog

We seem to have a Florida version of Wikileaks.

Cheney Mason, one of Casey Anthony’s lawyers, told the Orlando Sentinel that it was leaked or hacked and they would be investigating to try and discover how it was obtained.

He said its release was “unauthorized and inappropriate,” and that the purpose for the video diary was for “keeping notes and memoirs, particularly for her personal use for future counseling. This will help her remember her thought processes.”

He continued, “Casey did not upload or publish this to YouTube. She does not know who did it. When they did it. Why they did it. It was not authorized; therefore it had to be obtained criminally by an illegal act.”

The YouTube video is tagged, “Casey Anthony in hiding. I am not making any money off of these, I am simply reposting something that was made public weeks ago by a Facebook member calling him/herself Rob Hensly.”

If Casey Anthony posted her video diary on FaceBook she is so naïve she is a danger to herself. If someone else did it, it is criminal and puts Casey at risk from vigilantes.

Casey does not appear to have changed during the last six months. She is still a party girl, not seeming to care if she is recognized. Casey is out a lot in public and is dating.

What has changed however is that she has started going to Church – a few times a week.

Many who have seen the video comment on her self focus with a “me,” “mine” or “my” every few seconds, but this could be because the intention of the video diary is for therapy purposes, to help her move on in her life. That she does not mention her toddler daughter Caylee, who she was accused of murdering, could have the same explanation.

Casey Anthony has had grief therapy and has started to understand how her lies affect other people and she is learning how to recognize when she is lying.

Casey Anthony appears more confident and self-assured in a second video, so maybe it is helping her find herself.

In the first video, filmed in October 2011, Casey bizarrely reveals her future plans: “I’ll still be here until the end of February, maybe March which is my birthday. This has just been a blessing in so many ways.”

the grief therapy is having some positive spin-offs. Casey Anthony has started to understand how her lies affect other people and she is learning how to recognize when she is lying.

Who Killed 2-year-old Caylee Anthony?

We will probably never know, but this mystery is sure to haunt Casey as this will make it a continuing saga in American crime history. Casey Anthony herself is an enigma.

Casey’s prison guards said she was well mannered, calm, kind and polite.

The forensic psychologist who spent twenty hours evaluating Casey in the jail, Dr Harry Krop, said that Casey Anthony does not have a diagnosable mental disorder or personality disorder and is not a psychopath/sociopath. This forensic psychologist did not feel that Casey tried to manipulate him. He conducted a personality test and found her normal for such things as defensiveness, faking, lying etc. although she did show some narcissistic traits, but some narcissistic behavior can result from growing up in a dysfunctional/abusive home environment.

Other aspects of Casey Anthony’s personality:

  • Average IQ
  • Immature
  • Insecure
  • Low self-esteem
  • Not violent or abusive

Maybe in future, when we look at child abuse, we should consider the abuser’s whole social environment and not only the abuser in isolation, as the media did with Casey Anthony and the murder of her daughter Caylee.
