Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has managed to get help from an unexpected quarter. A former Swedish Senior Prosecutor will speak in his defense. Maybe it is the Swedish judicial system that is on trial?

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has managed to get help from an unexpected quarter. A former Swedish Senior Prosecutor, Sven-Erik Alhem, is prepared to witness on Tuesday, as a part of Assange’s attempt to stop extradition to Sweden for an alleged double rape.

The whole affair is a weird series of odd behaviors from the Swedish prosecutor trying to extradite Assange from the United Kingdom to stand trial in Sweden. This has raised many questions and set the conspiracy theorist brigade on turbo drive. The accusers of Julian Assange have also behaved strangely, not like real rape victims. Rape is a serious offence and framing a man for not understanding women, or because a condom broke, is an insult to real rape victims. It is also an unnecessary waste of police resources, distracting them from prosecuting real rapists.

Now a former Swedish Senior Prosecutor is willing to support Assange. He is expected to give his critical views at the hearing in London on Tuesday, on how Swedish justice has been treating this Assange case.

Sven-Erik Alhem is expected to give an overview of how this particular case has not been investigated in the normal manner similar cases would be investigated. What he will say and what the report he has prepared for the court say is something he does not wish to discuss before his court appearance.

However it is likely that he will bring up a number of points that have had people who know the Swedish legal system, shaking their heads in disbelief. A prosecutor divulged Assange’s identity within hours after the two “accusers” went to the police to “ask for advice.” The case was dropped, only to be taken up again by a more senior prosecutor who apparently has had many contacts with the women, but pointedly avoided speaking to Assange, before issuing an International Arrest Warrant for Assange.

His accusers, Anna Ardin and Sophia Willén did not need advice from the police. Anna Ardin is knowledgeable of Swedish law on the subject of rape. It is widely believed the women went to the police asking for advice on sexually transmitted diseases, knowing that the police would then file a charge against Julian Assange, thus absolving themselves from being accused of false accusation.

One of the accusers, Anna Ardin, has subsequently said she does not want to pursue the accusation and has moved to the West Bank where she is at present an activist for the Palestinian cause.

Sven-Erik Alhem emphasised that he is prepared to speak in Assange’s defence because he feel that in this case there is a miscarriage of justice.
